Win pictures?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Alex @ 11:28 pm

Fail pictures are a current, somewhat popular Internet meme. I first really came across them at the now no longer updated uncov, but there are other examples here or there.

Why is there no opposite meme - essentially images depicting success and triumph, rather than the failure and/or humiliation of some participant of a situation? Could there be?

    I’ll start:

If that doesn’t qualify for “win” I don’t know what does.

What’s going on there? Soldier flying over barbed wire about to throw a hatchet?

I still would not expect a widespread meme surrounding images likes this.

I think it’s because we get that schadenfreude-y sense of glee or amusement when we see someone “fail”. If someone “succeed” we’d may just end up jealous of their talents or luck; not quite as much fun.

That’s too bad though, isn’t it? I suspect it would be much more productive for people, if it were more common to have memes of genuine appreciation for real accomplishments.
