Blue Scholars: Back Home

Filed under: Music, seattle — Alex @ 4:34 pm

Blue Scholars‘ new album Bayani just came out. It has been on heavy rotation in my CD player for the past several days. I am pretty excited about it. Conscious and thoughtful, it is probably one of the best Rap CDs I have found lately.

Oh yeah: They’ll be playing at the Capitol Hill Block Party on July 27.

Overworked tech town

Filed under: seattle — Alex @ 9:58 pm

Men’s Health calls Seattle the tech-savviest town, followed, not surprisingly by San Francisco and San Jose. In related news, the July/August issue of Men’s Health also lists Seattle as one of the cities most in need of a vacation.

Pizzeria: Delfino’s

Filed under: Pizza, seattle — Alex @ 9:02 pm

Low-key website and low-key location in the midst of University Village. I waited too long before I went, always fearing heavy, greasy, garlicy fare. My concerns were unfounded.

I think I will go back there many times in the future. The pizza was delicious (and very much worth the 20-40 minute wait), people are friendly and you don’t feel rushed. Yeah, nothing fancy, but a laid back place to eat and hang out.

El Corazon, Seattle

The El Corazon is a bar, featuring mostly rock/punk live music.

Here is one of my favorite review comments from citysearch:

This place is great if you like it 140 degrees, are not interested in seeing the stage, don’t care about getting a drink and like to be hosed down like cattle! I’ll never go back.

There are more comments at yelp that go along the same lines.

Oh - and POS is playing there at the end of March. That might look a little like this:
